Government of Swiss Scholarships 2023-2024 How to Study Free in Switzerland

Scholarships from the Swiss government are available for the academic year 2023-2024. This government scholarship is available to students who have completed their master's degree and wish to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral studies. The scholarship includes a monthly payment as well as tuition waiver. In collaboration with the Swiss government, the Federal Commission of Scholarships funds the Swiss Government Scholarships. More than 180 countries have received government scholarships. All nationalities are welcome to participate.

This scholarship is open to highly qualified postgraduate researchers from all academic fields as well as young medical doctors.The European scholarships are available to postgraduate researchers in any discipline (with at least a master's degree) who plan to go to Switzerland to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral studies. The research scholarship is available to postgraduate researchers in any discipline (minimum master's degree) who plan to go to Switzerland to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral studies. Scholarships for research or study are available at all Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences, two federal institutes of technology, and four research institutes. Candidates will be considered who have been nominated by an academic mentor at a higher education institution.Art scholarships are only available to art students who want to pursue a master's degree in Switzerland. Scholarships for the arts are available at conservatories and universities of the arts. It is only available to students from a select few countries. Eligibility Criteria :
To be eligible for the Swiss Government Scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  1. Applicants must have been born after December 31, 1987.
  2. Applicants who have been in Switzerland for more than a year at the start of the scholarship are ineligible for this scholarship.
  3. Furthermore, they must provide a letter from an academic host professor (along with a brief CV) at the chosen Swiss university confirming their willingness to support and supervise the research.
  4. Applicants must submit a research proposal with a timetable.
  5. They must be fluent in the language required for the research/studies.
  6. Students who have previously received a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship are ineligible to apply.
  7. Applicants must hold a Master's degree or an equivalent university degree by July 31, 2023.

  1. Signed FCS application form,
  2. Two copies of the applicant’s passport,
  3. CV with a list of academic publications and awards,
  4. A motivation letter of a maximum of two pages,
  5. A complete research proposal of a maximum of five pages,
  6. Short CV of an academic mentor from home institution,
  7. Two confidential letters of recommendation,
  8. Photocopies of grade sheets and certificates (in English, German, French or Italian),
  9. A signed medical certificate,
  10. Copy of the letter from the host professor that confirms why they are willing to support the research & supervise.
